Dynamic translation
(14:17) He tries to drink it, but cannot swallow it, and death comes to him from everywhere, but he will not die; and after this is a powerful retribution.

(14:17) يَتَجَرَّعُهُ وَلاَ يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُ وَيَأْتِيهِ الْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌ
Connected ideas
(32:20) As for those who were wicked, their abode is the fire. Every time they try to leave it, they will be put back in it, and it will be said to them: "Taste the retribution of the fire in which you used to deny."
(35:36) As for those who have rejected, for them is the fire of Samsara, where they do not terminate and die, nor is its retribution ever reduced for them. It is such that We requite every ingrate.
(50:19) The moment of death came in truth: "This is what you have been trying to avoid!"
