60:4

Al-Mumtahina ("The Woman Tested")

Dynamic translation

(60:4) Certainly a fine (pattern) of living, for you was in Abraham, and those with him. They said to their community, "We renounce you and those you obey instead of Allah. We reject you, and enmity and hatred have been established between us and you forever, until you believe in Allah alone." Only Abraham said to his father: "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have no power to help you ahead Allah. Our Lord! In You alone we trust, to You we turn, and to You (is to come).

(60:4) قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَاء مِنكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاء أَبَدًا حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ إِلَّا قَوْلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

(2:124) Abraham was tested by commands from His Lord, which he completed. He said, "I will make you a leader for the people." He said, "Also from my progeny?" He said, "My pledge will not encompass the wicked."

(16:120) Abraham was a nation, devoted to Allah, a monotheist, and he was not among the Disuniting.
