Etymology

The triliteral root bā ʿayn lām (ب ع ل) according to corpus.quran.com occurs in the Quran seven times.

Compare with rus. «боярин» - "ба́рин, boyar, бай", from old-church-slavonic. «болꙗринъ» - "aristocrat, nobleman, boyar", from an old Bulgar «*boyla-er» - "nobleman, дворянин", from old-turkic «*boylā» - "noble", + proto-turkic «*ēr» - "мужчина, man", from quranic bā ʿayn lām (ب ع ل).

Compare with qaz. «бай» - "rich, noble person, байға тию (выходить замуж)", and qaz. «байлау» - "to bind, to tie up".

In the Quran

(2:228) And the divorcing (women, have to) uninterrupted out on their own, the three (cycles) of Folliculogenesis; and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, if they acknowledge God and the Last day. And their husbands (arab. وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ, wabuʿūlatuhunna) are more justified to return to them, if they both wish to reconcile. The women have rights similar to their obligations, according to the recognized norms. But the men will have a degree over them. Allah is Noble, Acuminate.
