Etymology

Compare with Ancient Greek «κρίνω - krī́nō» - "to judge, assess, decide, to select, choose,, to interpret, to inquire, to set up, to organize, to call, to name, to select, to choose, to prefer, to judge, to pronounce, to have a contest decided".

The etymological roots of the term “Quran” remain obscure. In the Syriac language (ܠܫܢܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ, lessana suriaya) - the dead language of the Aramaic group, there is a supposed equivalent - (ܩܪܝܢܐ - qeryānā), meaning "lesson" or "study of the scriptures". While some Western scholars believe that the word "Quran" comes from the Syriac language, most Muslim theologians believe that the source of this word is the Arab verb «qara-a - قَرَأَ». Encyclopedia Britannica Online (Nasr, Seyyed Hossein - 2007 "Qurʼān"), reports that the term became Arabic only during the lifetime of Muhammad.

A methodological study of the use of the term “Quran”, and its derivatives, indicates the semantic connection of the term with the act of “construction, building, consolidation”.

This interpretation is supported by the associated translation of the term sura, which comes from the root «sīn wāw rā», which can mean “fencing” and “brick wall”, as in (57:13) or (38:21).

A similar root form exists in the Kazakh and Kyrgyz languages ​​- "Kurylys, қurastyru, kurul-, kurulush."

The origin of the linguistic phenomenon “Kuru” can be observed on the example of incomplete satematization in Indo-Iranian languages. Sanskrit word "Guru" - "heavy" ← * gʷer-; kulam "herd" ← * kʷel-; also “kuru” - “to do” ← * kʷer-, however this word appears only in the texts, after the writing of the Rigveda.

Guru” (ˈɡuːru, ˈɡʊruː ˈɡʊər; Sanskrit: गुरु, IAST: guru) is the Sanskrit term “teacher, guide, expert or master” for a particular knowledge or field. In the Indian tradition, “guru” is more than a teacher, in Sanskrit, means one who “dispels darkness and goes to the light”.

As a result, the following picture is obtained: from “bricks - ayats”, it is laid out, “wall - sura” is made, in the process of creation and recreation, or construction and reconstruction of the “Quran”.

Any structured form of play could become a game. Games are played sometimes purely for recreation, sometimes for achievement or monetary rewards as well. They are played for recreation alone, in teams, or online; by amateurs. Professionals can play as part of their work for entertainment of the audience. The games could be board games, puzzles, computer or video games.

Personal Creativity

(96:1-3) Create (Arab. اقْرَأْ, iqra) (referring) to the name of your Lord, who created. He created the human from zygote. Create (Arab. اقْرَأْ, iqra), and your Lord is the Generous One.

(10:94) If you are in shock from what We sent down you, then ask those who have already created (Arab. يَقْرَءُونَ, yaqrauna) the Text from before you. The truth has come to you from your Lord, so do not be among the Doubters.

(17:14) Create (Arab. اقْرَأْ, iqra) your text! Today, you suffice as a reckoner against yourself.

Surah statistics

The first use of the term “Quran” in the “Quran”

Persistent expressions

1. In two ayats: (7:204) and (84:21) - there are two similar expressions - “قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ” and “قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ” - “quri-a al-Quranu”;

Responsible attitude

(7:204) If the Quran is being recited (Arab. قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ, quri-a l-qur'ānu), then listen to it and pay attention, so that you may receive mercy.

(15:87) We have definitely given you seven levels of abstraction, and the Great Quran (Arab. وَالْقُرْآنَ, wal-qur'āna).

The promise of Garden - reward in The Quran

(9:111) God has purchased from those who acknowledge their very lives and their wealth; that they will have the Garden. They fight in the cause of God so they kill and are killed. A promise that is true upon Him in the Torah, the Injeel and the Quran (Arab. وَالْقُرْآنِ, wal-qur'āni). Whoever fulfills his pledge to God, then have good news of the deal which you concluded with. Such is the supreme success.

Genius persons and The Quran

(72:1) Say, "It has been inspired to me that a group of genius persons were listening." They said, "We have heard an interesting recitation/quran (Arab. قُرْآنًا, qur'ānan)!"

(46:29) We sent to you a small number of genius persons, in order to let them listen to the Quran (Arab. الْقُرْآنَ, l-qur'āna). So when they arrived there, they said, "Pay attention." Then, when it was finished, they returned to their people, to warn them.

Collecting Quran together

(75:16-18) Do not move your tongue with it to make haste. It is for Us is its collection, and its construction (Arab. وَقُرْآنَهُ, waqur'ānahu). So when We construct it (Arab. قَرَأْنَاهُ, qaranāhu), you shall follow its construction (Arab. قُرْآنَهُ, qur'ānahu).

Quran is adapted for The Methodological work

(54:17) And We surely made The Quran (Arab. الْقُرْآنَ, l-qur'āna) easy for The Methodological (work). So, is (there) anybody (ready) to use methodology?

(50:45) We know (better) of what they say, and you don't have (authoritarian) dictate over them. So (teach) methodology, using the Quran (Arab. بِالْقُرْآنِ, bil-qur'āni) - for those who fear My promise.

Three periods

(2:228) The divorced women shall wait for three periods (Arab. قُرُوءٍ, qurūin); and it is not lawful for them to conceal what God has created in their wombs, if they acknowledge God and the Last day. Their husbands are more justified to return to them, if they both wish to reconcile. The women have rights similar to their obligations, according to the recognized norms. But the men will have a degree over them. God is Noble, Wise.

The language of the Quran

English historian Edward Gibbon writes in The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire:

«Under the last of the Umayyads, the Arabian empire extended two hundred days journey from east to west, from the confines of Tartary and India to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean ... We should vainly seek the indissoluble union and easy obedience that pervaded the government of Augustus and the Antonines; but the progress of Islam diffused over this ample space a general resemblance of manners and opinions. The language and laws of the Quran were studied with equal devotion at Samarcand and Seville: the Moor and the Indian embraced as countrymen and brothers in the pilgrimage of Mecca; and the Arabian language was adopted as the popular idiom in all the provinces to the westward of the Tigris.»
