The triliteral root qāf tā lām (ق ت ل) occurs in the Quran 170 times.

(9:111) God has purchased from those who acknowledge their very lives and their wealth; that they will have the Garden. They fight (Arab. يُقَاتِلُونَ, yuqātilūna) in the cause of God so they kill (Arab. فَيَقْتُلُونَ, fayaqtulūna) and are killed (Arab. وَيُقْتَلُونَ, wayuq'talūna). A promise that is true upon Him in the Torah, the Injeel and the Quran. Whoever fulfills his pledge to God, then have good news of the deal which you concluded with. Such is the supreme success.

(4:157) For their saying, "We have killed (Arab. قَتَلْنَا, qatalnā) the Messiah Jesus the son of Mary, the messenger of God!" They did not kill him (Arab. قَتَلُوهُ, qatalūhu), nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they had. Those who dispute are in doubt of him, they have no knowledge except to follow conjecture; they did not kill him (Arab. قَتَلُوهُ, qatalūhu) for a certainty.

Moses's situation

(28:19) But when he intended to grip the one, who was their enemy, he said, "O Moses! Do you intend to kill me (Arab. تَقْتُلَنِي, taqtulanī), as you killed (Arab. قَتَلْتَ, qatalta) a person yesterday? Obviously, you intend to be a despot on the Earth! And you do not intend to be among (self) improvers."

Fratricide

In The Quran

(5:30) So he found it in himself to kill (Arab. قَتْلَ, qatla) his brother, and he killed him (Arab. فَقَتَلَهُ, faqatalahu). He thus became one of the losers.

In The Book Of Genesis

(Book Of Genesis 4:8) Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him (Hebrew. וַיַּהַרְגֵֽהוּ, way-ya-har-ḡê-hū).
