Surah Al-Isra (The Night Trip)

Dynamic translation

(17:12) We made the night and the day as two ideas, so We erased the idea of night and We made the idea of day manifest, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of the years and the count. Everything We have detailed meticulously.

(17:12) وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِتَبْتَغُواْ فَضْلاً مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُواْ عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلاً

Connected ideas

(9:36) In fact, Allah has twelve months - it was ordained by Allah on the day (when) Heaven and Earth were created. Four (months) of them are harmful. Such is the stable (reckoning of) Debt, and therefore do not (act) unjustly (toward) yourselves in them. But fight those who divide wholeheartedly, just as they fight you wholeheartedly. But know that Allah is with the responsible.

(10:5) He is the One who made the sun an illuminator, and the moon a light, and He measured its phases so that you would know the number of the years and the calculation. Allah has not created this except for truth. He details the ideas for a people who know.

(14:24-25-26) Have you not seen how Allah cites the example of a good word is like a good tree, whose root is firm and its branches in the sky? It bears its fruit every so often by its Lord's leave. Allah cites the examples for the people, perhaps they will remember. The example of a bad word is like a tree which has been uprooted from the surface of the earth, it has nowhere to settle.

(15:16) We have placed in the heavens constellations, and We have made them pleasant to the onlookers.

(25:61) Blessed is the One Who made towers in the universe and He made in it a beacon and a shining moon.

(39:5) He created the heavens and the earth with truth. He rolls the night over the day, and He rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for an appointed term. Absolutely, He is the Noble, the Forgiving.
