Dynamic translation

(3:145) It is not permitted for a person to die except by God's leave in an appointed record. Whoever wants the rewards of this world We give him of it, and whoever wants the reward of the Hereafter, We give him of it. We will reward the thankful.

Arabic text

(3:145) وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفۡسٍ أَن تَمُوتَ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ كِتَٰبٗا مُّؤَجَّلٗاۗ وَمَن يُرِدۡ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡهَا وَمَن يُرِدۡ ثَوَابَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡهَاۚ وَسَنَجۡزِي ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

Connected ideas

(2:200-201-202) ... Among the people are those who say, "Our Lord, give us from this world!", but in the Hereafter he has no part. Some of them say, "Our Lord, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us from the retribution of the fire." These will have a benefit for what they have gained. And Allah is quick in computing.

(4:134) Whoever seeks the reward of this world: with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. Allah is Hearing, Watchful.
