Dynamic translation
(9:81) Those who were left behind rejoiced their staying behind Allah's messenger, and they disliked to strive with their wealth and lives in the cause of Allah. They said, "Do not march out in the heat." Say, "The fire of Samsara is far hotter." If they could only understand!

(9:81) فَرِحَ ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقۡعَدِهِمۡ خِلَٰفَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَرِهُوٓاْ أَن يُجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالُواْ لَا تَنفِرُواْ فِي ٱلۡحَرِّۗ قُلۡ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرّٗاۚ لَّوۡ كَانُواْ يَفۡقَهُونَ
Connected ideas
(4:95) Except the disabled, not equal are those who stayed behind from those who acknowledge with those who strived in the cause of Allah with their money and lives. Allah has preferred those who strive with their money and lives over those who stayed behind by a grade; and to both Allah has promised goodness; and Allah has preferred the strivers to those who stay by a great gratuity.
