Forget

Amnesia (from Ancient Greek 'forgetfulness'; from ἀ- (a-) 'without', and μνήσις (mnesis) 'memory').

A disease with symptoms of memory loss, especially of recent important events, or incomplete memories of past events.

Etymology

The triliteral root nūn sīn yā (ن س ي) occurs in the Quran 45 times.

1. Compare with Sanskrit «नाशयति - nāśáyati» - "to cause to be lost or disappear, to disappear (transitive), to drive away, to expel, to remove, to destroy, to efface", from Proto-Indo-European «neḱ-» - "to perish, disappear".

2. Compare with English «amnesia» - "loss of memory, forgetfulness.".

3. Compare with English «Nyx» - "Nyx, (Greek mythology) the primordial goddess of night.".

Forgetting The God

(59:19) Do not be like those who forgot (Arab. نَسُوا, nasū) God, so He made them forget (Arab. فَأَنْسَاهُمْ, fa-ansāhum) themselves. These are the wicked.

(9:67) The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, they are the same. They order evil, deter from good, and they are tightfisted. They forgot (Arab. نَسُوا, nasū) God, so He forgot them (Arab. فَنَسِيَهُمْ, fanasiyahum); the hypocrites are the wicked.
