Al-Jumua ("The Day of Congregation")

Dynamic translation

(62:11) If they come across any trade, or some entertainment, they rush to it and leave you standing, say, "What Allah possesses is far better than entertainment or trade. Allah is the best Provider."

Arabic text

(62:11) وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا قُلْ مَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ

Connected ideas

(6:44) So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the gates of all opportunities; and when they became haughty with what they were given, We took them suddenly! They were confounded.

(9:42) If it were a near gain, or an easy journey, they would have followed you. But the distance was too much for them. They will swear by Allah: "If we could have, we would have come with you." They destroy themselves, and Allah knows they are liars.

(24:62) Indeed, those who have trusted are those who (show) trust in Allah, and in His messenger. And when they find themselves with him in common cause, they do not leave (the assembly) until they (ask) his permission. For those who (ask) your permission - such is their (manifestation of) trust in Allah, and His messenger. And when they (ask) your approval concerning some of their situations, approve those of them to whom you wish, and (ask) Allah for their forgiveness. Allah is a forgiving, merciful.
