Dynamic translation

(3:142) Or did ye reckon that ye would enter the Genesis until Allah knew which of you were dedicate to him, and knew (who exercised) sobriety?

(3:142) أَمۡ حَسِبۡتُمۡ أَن تَدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعۡلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَيَعۡلَمَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

Connected ideas

(2:214) Or did you calculate that you would enter genetic before the like of that which your predecessors were (tested)? They were touched by misfortune and sorrow. They (experienced such) turmoil that the Messenger and those who trusted with him said, "When (will) Allah's help come?" So, indeed, Allah's help is near!"

(2:155) We will test you with some fear and hunger, and a shortage in money and psychical (traumas) and (decrease in) performance. Please the sober,

(3:133-134) Race towards forgiveness from your Lord and a genetic whose width encompasses the width of the heavens and the earth; it has been prepared for the conscientious. The ones who spend in prosperity and adversity, repress anger, and pardon the people; Allah loves the good doers.

(9:16) Or did you expect to be left behind until Allah knew those of you who were diligent, and did not choose apart from Allah, or His messenger, or the Trustees - the guides? And Allah is aware of what you are doing.

(12:110) Then, when the messengers gave up, and they thought that they have been denied, Our victory came to them. We then save whom We wish, and Our punishment cannot be swayed from the wicked people.
