Dinamic translation

(9:16) Or did you expect to be left behind until Allah knew those of you who were diligent, and did not choose apart from Allah, or His messenger, or the Trustees - the guides? And Allah is aware of what you are doing.

Arabic text

(9:16) أَمۡ حَسِبۡتُمۡ أَن تُتۡرَكُواْ وَلَمَّا يَعۡلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَلَمۡ يَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةٗۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ

(2:214) Or did you calculate that you would enter genetic before the like of that which your predecessors were (tested)? They were touched by misfortune and sorrow. They (experienced such) turmoil that the Messenger and those who trusted with him said, "When (will) Allah's help come?" So, indeed, Allah's help is near!"

(2:155) We will test you with some fear and hunger, and a shortage in money and psychical (traumas) and (decrease in) performance. Please the sober,

(3:142) Or did you calculate that ye would enter Paradise until God recognized those of you who were diligent, and (did not) recognize (those who were) patient?

(12:110) Then, when the messengers gave up, and they thought that they have been denied, Our victory came to them. We then save whom We wish, and Our punishment cannot be swayed from the wicked people.

1. note the grammatical construction "مِنْ وَلَايَتِهِمْ مِنْ" of (8:72), and compare it to "وَلِيجَةً" of (9:16).
