The triliteral root sīn bā ḥā (س ب ح) occurs in the Quran 92 times.


(2:32) They said, "Glory be to You (Arab. سُبْحَانَكَ, sub'ḥānaka), we have no knowledge except what You have taught us, You are the Knowledgeable, the Wise."

(16:57) They assign daughters to God; be He glorified (Arab. سُبْحَانَهُ, sub'ḥānahu); and to them is what they desire.

To glorify the praise

(2:30) Your Lord said to the angels, "I am placing a successor on earth." They said, "Would You place in it he who would corrupt it, and shed blood, while we sing Your glory (Arab. نُسَبِّحُ, nusabbiḥu) with Your praises, and sanctify You?" He said, "I know what you do not know."

(52:48) So be patient for the judgment of your Lord, for you are in Our eyes, and glorify (Arab. وَسَبِّحْ, wasabbiḥ) the praise of your Lord when you stand (in the prayer).
