Etymology

The triliteral root ḥā sīn nūn (ح س ن) occurs in the Quran 194 times.

Compare with «善 - Shàn» - according to Shuowen (the oldest Chinese hieroglyphic dictionary) - "good, virtuous".

A hieroglyph written on "bronze inscriptions" (jinwen) - inscriptions that form a complete text, placed on ritual bronze vessels of the Shang-Zhou era (XIII-IV centuries BC).

Also compare with Japanese しん (shin) - this is kanji (Japanese hieroglyphic notation) for the Chinese character "善- Shàn", which means "kind, good or favorable". In Japanese しん (shin) it is used as an adjective to denote good qualities, such as kindness, respectfulness, virtue.

For example:

«しんせつ - shinsetsu» - "kind-hearted, kind, merciful".

Compare with Sanskrit «Sundara» - "beautiful, noble, correct, charming, lovely".

In the Quran

(2:58) We said, "Enter this town, and eat from it as plentifully as you wish; and enter the gate humbly, and talk amicably, We will then forgive your mistakes, and We will increase for the good-doers (Arab. الْمُحْسِنِينَ, l-muḥ'sinīna)."

(2:245) Who will credit God a credit of goodness (Arab. حَسَنًا, ḥasanan) that He may multiply it for him? God collects and He distributes, and to Him you will return.

(41:34) And not equal are the good deeds (Arab. الْحَسَنَةُ, l-ḥasanatu) and the evil. Repel it by that, which is better (Arab. أَحْسَنُ, aḥsanu). Thus, one who, between you and between him was enmity, will become as if he is a close friend.

Being a gooddoer

(31:22) Whosoever peacefully surrenders his face to God, while being a gooddoer (Arab. مُحْسِنٌ, muḥ'sinun), then he has taken hold of the strongest bond. To God all matters will return.

(2:112) No, whosoever peacefully surrenders his face to God, while being a gooddoer (Arab. مُحْسِنٌ, muḥ'sinun); he will have his reward with his Lord. There will be no fear over them, nor will they grieve.

(4:125) Who is better in the system than one who peacefully surrenders his face to God, while being a gooddoer (Arab. مُحْسِنٌ, muḥ'sinun), and he followed the creed of Abraham in monotheism? God took Abraham as a friend.
