Luqman (Arab. لقمان - Luqman) – person in the Quran. 31 surah of the Quran are named after Luqman. According to the Quran, in Sura Luqman , the name Luqman occurs twice, in (31:12) and in (31:13).

Luqman's only clear unambiguous characterization is expressed in grammatical construction in the ayat:

(31:12) We had given Luqman the wisdom: "You shall be sincere to Allah, and whoever is sincere is being sincere for his own good. As for whosoever rejects, then Allah is Rich, Praiseworthy."

Luqman is not positioned based on the context of the sura as a negative character. However, it cannot be found in a series of enumerations of characters with a specific characteristic.

The person of Luqman stands apart from other Quranic personalities. It is noteworthy that it is not said about him that he belongs to any category of levels.

Luqman is not mentioned among the "listed in a row" in such as: (3:84), (6:84), (6:85), (6:86), (21:85).

A characteristic speech feature in the ayats – (31:13), (31:16), (31:17) is the appeal of Luqman to his son - "O my son! " - يَا بُنَيَّ.

The same appeals to the son are found in the Quran in the ayats(11:42) (Noah to his son), (12:5) (Jacob to his son Joseph), (37:102) (Abraham to his son).

Luqman's clear instructions to his son are found in ayats (31:13), (31:16), (31:17), (31:18), (31:19). It is noteworthy that ayats (31:14) and (31:15) are unexpectedly thrown into the structure of the instructional narratives from Luqman.

(31:13-19) And Luqman said to his son, while he was advising him: "O my son, do not set up any partners with Allah; for setting up partners is an immense wrongdoing." We enjoined the human regarding his parents. His mother bore him with hardship upon hardship, and his weaning takes two calendar years. You shall be sincere to Me, and to your parents. To Me is the final destiny. If they strive to make you set up any partners besides Me, then do not obey them. But continue to treat them amicably in this world. You shall follow only the path of those who have sought Me. Ultimately, you all return to Me, then I will inform you of everything you have done. "O my son, Allah will bring out anything, be it as small as a mustard seed, be it deep inside a rock, or be it in the heavens or the earth, Allah will bring it. Allah is Sublime, Ever-aware." "O my son, hold the contact prayer and advocate righteousness and forbid evil, and bear with patience whatever befalls you. These are the most honorable traits." "Do not turn your cheek arrogantly from people, nor shall you roam the earth insolently. For Allah does not like the arrogant show offs." "Be humble in how you walk and lower your voice. For the harshest of all voices is the donkey's voice."
