Rizq, rich, food, destiny, fate, chance - Arab. الرِّزْقَ, al-rizqa. One of the names of God is الرّازق «Ar-Raziq». It means «Giving His slaves food (rizq), that is, livelihood, destiny, etc.».

Etymology

From Middle Persian (rōzīg, "daily bread, sustenance"), from (rōz, "day"). Compare Old Armenian ռոճիկ (ṙočik), Old Georgian როჭი (roč̣i), როჭიკი (roč̣iḳi), Classical Syriac ܪܘܙܝܩܐ‎ (rōzīqā), ܪܙܩܐ‎ (rezqā), Arabic رِزْق‎ (rizq), all Iranian borrowings.

In the Quran

(65:3) and provide for him (Arab. وَيَرْزُقْهُ, wayarzuq'hu) whence he never expected. Anyone who puts his trust in God, then He suffices him. Indeed, God's commands will be done. God has decreed for everything its fate.

(2:22) The One who made the land a habitat, and the sky a structure, and He sent down from the sky water with which He brought out fruit as a provision (Arab. رِزْقًا, riz'qan) for you. So do not make any equals with God while you now know.

(51:57) I need no provisions (Arab. رِزْقٍ, riz'qin) from them, nor do I need them to give food.
