Dynamic translation
(2:16) Such are those who share the delusion for (the) guidance. But the transaction did not (bring) them prosperity, and they were not with the guidance.
Translation of Edip Yuksel
(2:16) These are those who have purchased straying for guidance; their trade did not profit them, nor were they guided.

(2:16) أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرُوُاْ الضَّلاَلَةَ بِالْهُدَى فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَ
Connected ideas
(2:171) The example of those who are unappreciative is like the one who repeats what he has heard of calls and shouts; deaf, dumb, and blind; they do not reason.
(3:177) Those who have purchased rejection with acknowledgement will not harm Allah in the least, and they will have a painful retribution.
(4:44) Did you not see those who have been given a portion of the book? They purchased the delusion, and they want you to delude from the path.
