Al-Ma'ida ("The Table Spread")

Dynamic translation

(5:3) Forbidden to you is what is already dead, and the blood, the meat of pig, and animals sacrificed to other than Allah. The strangled, killed by a blow, fallen from height, gored, eaten by wild animals except what you managed to rescue, and those slaughtered on altars... Also what you divide through gambling. This is all vile. Today the ingrates have given up from your system, so do not revere them, but revere Me. Today for your sake I have completely (formed) for you (the principle of payment) of debt, brought (to the end) My mercy to you, and approved for you (as payment) of debt - docility. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.

(5:3) حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَٱلۡمَوۡقُوذَةُ وَٱلۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسۡتَقۡسِمُواْ بِٱلۡأَزۡلَٰمِۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌۗ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ يَئِسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن دِينِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِۚ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمَ دِينٗاۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ فِي مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَيۡرَ مُتَجَانِفٖ لِّإِثۡمٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

Connected ideas

(6:119) Why should you not eat of that over which the name of Allah has been spoken, while He has already explained to you in detail what is harmful to you, unless you are compelled to do so? Indeed, many mislead others by their own desires, without any knowledge. Verily, your Lord is better acquainted with criminals.

(22:78) Dedicate to Allah in fact addiction. He selected you, and (made) no hard for you (paying) donation. This is the religion of your father Abraham. Allah has called you "Reconcile" in the past, and here (in the Quran), that the consul may be the checker for you, and you may be checker for mankind. Stand up to prayer, pay zakat, and hold fast to (the rope of) Allah. He is your philanthropist. How superb is this philanthropist! And how superb is this server!
