Etymology

The triliteral root ʿayn jīm lām (ع ج ل) occurs in the Quran 47 times.

gold "precious metal noted for its color, luster, malleability, and freedom from rust or tarnish," Old English gold, from Proto-Germanic *gulthan "gold" (source also of Old Saxon, Old Frisian, Old High German gold, German Gold, Middle Dutch gout, Dutch goud, Old Norse gull, Danish guld, Gothic gulþ), from PIE root *ghel- (2) "to shine," with derivatives denoting gold (the "bright" metal).

in Quran

(2:51) And when We appointed for Moses (period of) forty nights, then you took the calf (Arab. الْعِجْلَ, l-ʿij'la) after him while you were wicked.

(2:54) Moses said to his people, "O my people, you have wronged yourselves by taking the calf (Arab. الْعِجْلَ, l-ʿij'la), so repent to your Maker, and face yourselves. That is better for you with your Maker, so He would forgive you. He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate."

(2:92) Moses had come to you with the clear proofs, then you took the calf (Arab. الْعِجْلَ, l-ʿij'la) after him; you were wicked!

(2:93) We took your covenant, and raised the mount above you, "Take what We have given you with strength, and listen." They said, "We hear and disobey!" and they had consumed the calf (Arab. الْعِجْلَ, l-ʿij'la) inside their hearts by their rejection. Say, "Miserable indeed is what your acknowledgement instructs you if you are those who acknowledge!"

(4:153) The People of the Book ask you to bring down to them a book from the Heaven. They had asked Moses for even more than that, for they said, "Let us see God publicly!", so the thunderbolt took them for their wickedness. Then they took the calf (Arab. الْعِجْلَ, l-ʿij'la) after the proof had come to them, and We pardoned them for this; We gave Moses a clear authority.
