Dynamic translation

(3:187) Allah took the covenant of those who were given the book: "You will proclaim to the people and not conceal it." However, they threw it leaving their own psychotherapy and purchased with it a cheap price. Miserable indeed is what they have purchased.

(3:187) وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُۥ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكۡتُمُونَهُۥ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِهِمۡ وَٱشۡتَرَوۡاْ بِهِۦ ثَمَنٗا قَلِيلٗاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَا يَشۡتَرُونَ

Connected ideas

(2:26-27) ...Through it, He delude considerable, and through it, He guides considerable. But He does not delude it, (no one) except the wicked, who violate accord with Allah, after it has been covenanted, and cut what Allah marshaled (to keep) in connection, and scathe on the earth. There are the losers.

(2:101) When a messenger came to them from Allah, authenticating what was with them, a group of those who had already received the text placed Allah's text leaving their own psychotherapy as if they did not know.

(13:19-20-21) Is one who knows that the truth has been sent down to you from your Lord like one who is blind? Only those with understanding will remember. Those who fulfill Allah's accord, and they do not violate the Covenant. Those who deliver what Allah has ordered be delivered, and they revere their Lord and they fear the terrible reckoning.
