Surah Al-Kahf (The Cave)

Dynamic translation

(18:50) When We said to the managers: "Subject to Adam." They all subjected except for Abless, he was of the genius, so he disobeyed the order of his Lord. "Will you take him and his progeny as allies besides Me, while they are your enemy?" Miserable for the wicked is the substitute!

(18:50) وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ أَوْلِيَاء مِن دُونِي وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ بِئْسَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ بَدَلًا

Connected ideas

(2:34) And when We said, (addressing) the managers: "(Reveal) the subjects to Adam!" - They immediately (revealed) the subjects, except Abless, who prohibited, and (showed) hubris, and was among the diversions.

(17:61) And when We said, (addressing) the managers: "Subject to Adam!" - so they became subjected except Abless, he said, "Shall I subject to one you have collect from clay!"
