Dynamic translation

(2:7) Allah (put) a stamp on their hearts, and on their ears, and on their sight - a guise. And to them is great suffer.

Translation of Edip Yuksel

(2:7) God has sealed their hearts and their ears; and over their eyes are covers. They will incur a great retribution.

Arabic text

(2:7) خَتَمَ اللّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهمْ وَعَلَى سَمْعِهِمْ وَعَلَى أَبْصَارِهِمْ غِشَاوَةٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عظِيمٌ

Connected ideas

(15:14-15) And even if We fitted the gates of heaven for them, they would continue to go up there, they would have said, "Our eyes are hallucinating. No, we are a people who are being bewitched!"

(42:24) Or do they say, "He has fabricated lies about Allah!" If Allah willed, He could have sealed your heart. Allah erases the falsehood and affirms the truth with His words. He is fully aware of what is inside the chests.

(45:23) Have you seen the one who took his fancy as his god, and Allah led him astray, despite his knowledge, and He sealed his hearing and his heart, and He made a veil on his eyes? Who then can guide him after Allah? Will you not remember?
