Reincarnation is the philosophical or religious concept that an aspect of a living being starts a new life in a different physical body or form after each biological death. It is also called rebirth or transmigration, and is a part of the Samsara doctrine of cyclic existence. It is a central tenet of all major Indian religions, namely Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The idea of reincarnation is found in many ancient cultures, and a belief in rebirth/metempsychosis was held by Greek historic figures, such as Pythagoras, Socrates, and Plato. read more

Reincarnation - nūn shīn rā (ن ش ر)

The triliteral root nūn shīn rā (ن ش ر) occurs in the Quran 21 times.

(44:34-35) These people now are saying: "There is nothing but our first death; and we will never be reincarnated (Arab. بِمُنْشَرِينَ, bimunsharīna)!"

(25:3) They took besides Him gods who do not create anything and are themselves created! They do not possess for themselves any harm or benefit, nor do they possess death or life, nor reincarnation (Arab. نُشُورًا, nushūran).

(25:47) He is the One who made for you the night as a cover, sleep for resting, and He made the day as a reincarnation (Arab. نُشُورًا, nushūran).

(35:9) God is the One who sends the winds so that they plough up clouds, then We drive them to a town that is dead, and We revive with them the land after it had died. Such is the reincarnation (Arab. النُّشُورُ, l-nushūru).

(43:11) He is the One who sends down water from the sky, in exact measure. Then We revive (Arab. فَأَنْشَرْنَا, fa-ansharnā) with it a dead land. Similarly, you will be brought out.

(25:40), (67:15), (21:21), (80:22)

Connected

(84:19) You will ride a layer upon a layer.

(2:28) How can you deny God, while you were dead, then He brought you to life? Then He will cause you to die, then He will give you life again, then to Him you will be returned.

(3:27) "You blend the night into the day, and blend the day into the night; and you bring the living out of the dead, and bring the dead out of the living; and You provide for whom You please with no computation."

(41:20) When they come to it, their own hearing, eyes, and skins will bear witness to everything they had done.

(2:243) Did you not see those who were evicted from their homes in groups, all the while they were wary of death; so God said to them, "Die," then He resurrected them. God has great favor over the people, but most people are not thankful.

Reincarnation into an animal

(2:65) You have come to know who it was amongst you that transgressed the Sabbath, We said to them, "Be despicable apes!"

(5:60) Say, "Shall I inform you of worse than this as a punishment from God? Those whom God cursed and displeased with them, and He made from them apes, pigs and servants of the Tradition. Those have a worst place and are more astray from the right path."
