The triliteral root nūn ṣād rā (ن ص ر) occurs in the Quran 158 times.

Etymology

Nazareth - hebrew. נצרת - נָצַר‎ (natsár, “to guard”). Compare Aramaic נְטַר‎ (nəṭar, “to watch, guard”), Classical Syriac ܢܛܲܪ‎ (nəṭar, “to watch”), Arabic نَظَرَ‎ (naẓara, literally “to watch”), Akkadian 𒈾𒍝𒊒 (/naṣāru[m]/, “to watch over, protect”).

In The Quran

(2:62) Surely those who acknowledge, and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes (Arab. وَالنَّصَارَىٰ, wal-naṣārā), and those who follow other religions, any one of them who acknowledge God and the Last day, and do reform, they will have their reward with their Lord, with no fear over them, nor will they grieve.

(2:111) They said, "None shall enter The Garden except those who are Jewish or Nazarenes (Arab. نَصَارَىٰ, naṣārā);" this is what they wish! say, "Bring forth your proof if you are truthful."

(2:135) They said, "Be Jews or Nazarenes (Arab. نَصَارَىٰ, naṣārā) so that you may be guided!" Say, "No, rather the creed of Abraham, monotheism; for he was not of those who set up partners."

(2:140) "Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs were all Jewish or Nazarene (Arab. نَصَارَىٰ, naṣārā)?" Say, "Are you more knowledgeable or is God?" Who is more wicked than one who conceals a testimony with him from God? God is not oblivious of what you do.

Abraham. Jew or Nazarene?

(2:135) They said, "Be Jews or Nazarenes (Arab. نَصَارَىٰ, naṣārā) so that you may be guided!" Say, "No, rather the creed of Abraham, monotheism; for he was not of those who set up partners."

(3:67) Abraham was neither a Jew, nor a Nazarene (Arab. نَصْرَانِيًّا, naṣrāniyyan), but he was a monotheist who peacefully surrendered; he was not of those who set up partners.

Nazarene's distortion

(9:30) The Jews said, "Ezra is God's son," and the Nazarenes (Arab. النَّصَارَى, l-naṣārā) said, "The Messiah is God's son." Such is their utterances with their mouths; they imitate the sayings of those who rejected before them. God's curse be on them. How deviated are they!

Some Nazarenes are goooood

(5:82) You will find the people with greatest animosity towards those who acknowledge are the Jews and those who set up partners; and you will find the closest in affection to those who acknowledge are those who said, "We are Nazarenes (Arab. نَصَارَىٰ, naṣārā);" that is because amongst them are monks and priests, and they are not arrogant.

Problem with modern Christians

(5:17) Ingrates indeed are those who have said, "God is the Messiah the son of Mary."Say, "Who has any power against God if He had wanted to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother, and all who are on earth!" To God is the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is inbetween; He creates what He pleases. God is capable of all things.
