Dynamic translation

(2:44) How is it that you marshal persons in fair, and amnesia your own psyche? Is this what text tales!? Will you not be cleverer?

Translation of Edip Yuksel

(2:44) Do you order the people to do goodness, but forget yourselves, while you are reciting the book? Do you not reason?

Arabic text

(2:44) أَتَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَتَنسَوْنَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ

Connected ideas

(3:167) To let those who are hypocrites know, that they were told: "To ally, fight in the cause of Allah or defend," they said, "If we knew how to fight we would have followed you." That day they were closer to rejection then they were to acknowledgement. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and Allah knows well what they conceal.

(9:67) The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, they are the same. They order evil, deter from good, and they are tightfisted. They forgot Allah, so He forgot them; the hypocrites are the wicked.

(26:224-225-226) The poets, are followed by the strayers. Do you not see that they traverse in every valley? That what they say, is not what they do?

(32:14) So taste the consequences of your ignoring/forgetting this day; for We have now forgotten you. Taste the eternal retribution in return for what you used to do.

(59:19) Do not be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. These are the wicked.

(61:2-3) O you who acknowledge, why do you say what you do not do? Great is hatred before Allah that you say what you do not do.
